Exceptional school closure – Smithton primary school Tuesday 20th August 2019
Following the school summer holiday Smithton Primary School will be closed to pupils on Tuesday 20th August 2019.
This exceptional closure day will allow the school to move to newly refurbished accommodation as part of an extensive on-going refurbishment of the entire school.
In terms of the powers available Scottish Ministers advised yesterday (10 June) that they are content to allow the exceptional school closure of Smithton Primary School on Tuesday 20th August 2019, in accordance with section 133(4) of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980.
Staff are not permitted to access the school building during the refurbishments which will be completed over the school summer holiday.
The Council apologises for any inconvenience caused as the staff and contractors use this day to prepare the school for the children’s return. The Council is giving parents and carers of pupils attending Smithton Primary School early warning to enable alternative childcare arrangements to be made for this day if necessary.
The school will open as normal after the school summer holiday on Wednesday, 21st August 2019.
