Careers Centre Opens in Dingwall
Issued by Skills Development Scotland
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has opened a new careers centre in Dingwall Service Point.
Careers advisers will be on hand at the new SDS centre to offer expert career information, advice and guidance from the County Buildings on High Street.
SDS is the national skills agency for Scotland and delivers Scotland’s careers service.
The community hub at 84 High Street was opened by Highland Council in May, providing a one-stop shop for local people looking for support across a range of council and partner services.
Gillian Unger leads the SDS team in Ross-shire. She said: “Opening this careers centre in Dingwall is a fantastic opportunity for us to meet with and support even more people in the area.
“No matter your age or what stage you’re at in your career, SDS’s professionally qualified careers advisers will be available to support you.
“Whether it’s working out what you want to do next, finding out about local jobs, education, apprenticeships or training or even brushing up on interview technique – our careers advisers are here to help.
“The welcoming, flexible space we have here at the Dingwall Service Point will also mean we can widen the range of activities we carry out. We’ll be able to hold larger group sessions, host partner and employer visits as well as our usual one-to-one appointments and drop-in sessions.”
Alister MacKinnon, Chair of The Highland Council’s Corporate Resources Committee, Dingwall and Seaforth Ward Councillor, said: “Since the Service Point in Dingwall opened its doors earlier this year it has been very warmly received by customers and staff. With excellent facilities it is regarded as a ‘flagship’ facility and the digital suite, offering free public access, is seen as a particular draw.
“We very much welcome this opportunity to share the space and resources with Skills Development Scotland and look forward to working together.
“This new partnership will create a genuine community hub offering more services where everything people want can be found under one roof.”
