Gaelic Art Club hailed a success
Tha Club Ealain – club ealain chruthachail a tha air a chumail tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig – stèidhichte aig Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh. Tha an Club a’ gabhail àite taobh a-muigh uairean sgoile air feasgar Diluain eadar 3.30–5.00f.
Mar phàirt de phròiseact nas fharsainge airson a bhith a’ toirt taic do dh’iomairtean aig Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh, chaidh an Club Ealain a stèidheachadh le Sgioba Ghàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus tha e a’ faighinn taic bho Bhòrd na Gàidhlig.
Tha an Club air a stiùireadh leis a’ Bh-uas Kirstin NicDhùghaill a tha an-dràsta ag obair aig Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh agus a tha an dòchas a bhith na tidsear Gàidhlig. Thuirt ise, “Tha an òigridh a bhios a’ tighinn chun a’ Chlub Ealain ag ionnsachadh mar a bhios iad cruthachail, agus mar a leasaicheas iad sgilean ciùird tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig ann an dòigh spòrsail. Tha cothrom aig sgoilearan Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh a tha an làthair aig a’ Chlub Ealain na sgilean cànain Gàidhlig aca àrdachadh agus tha an cleachdadh cànain aca air a bhrosnachadh ann an àrainneachd neo-fhoirmeil.”
Lean i air adhart, “Tha e a’ còrdadh rium gu mòr a bhith ag obair còmhla ris an òigridh agus tha e a’ toirt eòlas luachmhor dhomh ann a bhith a’ dealbhadh is a’ lìbhrigeadh chleasan.”
Thuirt Elaine Fernie agus Dominic Collins, pàrantan leanaibh a tha a’ dol chun a’ Chlub Ealain, “Tha mi dhen bheachd gu bheil e na bhuannachd mòr dhan leanabh againn a bhith a’ frithealadh a’ Chlub Ealain às dèidh na sgoile seach gu bheil e a’ toirt cothrom air leth dhi co-chonaltradh le a co-aoisean san sgoil fhad ’s a tha i cuideachd a’ toirt air adhart nan sgilean cànain Gàidhlig aice taobh a-muigh a’ chlasa agus a’ leudachadh a h-ionnsachadh cruthachail le bhith a’ gabhail com-pàirt anns na cleasan ealain is ciùird mheasgaichte gach seachdain.”
The importance of a Skye creative arts club, Club Ealain, has been hailed by the parents of children who attend.
Club Ealain is run through the medium of Gaelic and is based at Bun Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh.
The Club takes place out-with the school hours on a Monday afternoon between 3:30-5:00pm
As part of a wider project for supporting initiatives at Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh the Club Ealain has been established by the Highland Council Gaelic Team and is supported by Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
After school leader in charge Miss Kirstin MacDougal who currently works at Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh and hopes to become a Gaelic Medium teacher said, “The young people who attend the Club Ealain learn how to be creative, develop crafting skills through the medium of Gaelic whilst having fun.
"The Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh pupils who attend the Club Ealain have the opportunity to increase their Gaelic linguistic skills and encourage their langauge usage in an informal environment."
She continued, “I really enjoy working with the young people and it also gives me invaluable experience in planning and delivering activities.”
Elaine Fernie and Dominic Collins, parents whose child attends the Club Ealain said, “I find that my child really benefits from attending the Gaelic Arts after school club as it provides an excellent opportunity to engage with her school peers whilst at the same time she is developing her Gaelic language skills out with the classroom setting and also expanding her creative learning by participating in the varied arts and crafts activities each week.”
