Acting Director of Education Culture and Sport

The Highland Council has appointed Donnie MacDonald, Head of Education Services, as Acting Director of Education Culture and Sport.

Mr MacDonald will take up his new duties on Monday (26 February) and remain in charge of the Service until a new Director is appointed.

Mr MacDonald, a graduate of Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities,  formerly  held the post of  Adviser in Mathematics in Highland Regional Council and joined  the education management team in 1993,  initially as Divisional Education Officer in Ross and Cromarty prior to being appointed Head of Support for Learners in 1999.  He was appointed to his current  post of Head of Education Services in  2001.

His appointment follows the departure of Bruce Robertson, OBE, Director of Education Culture and Sport, to join Aberdeenshire Council as Director of Education and Recreation.
