Highland school welcomes Hedrons.

One of the country's foremost emerging rock bands the Hedrons - a four-piece girl band originally from Glasgow - have taken time out of their busy UK tour schedule before they head for North America to play at a Highland secondary school near Loch Ness.

Excited pupils of Kilchuimen Academy, Fort Augustus are eagerly awaiting  a live lunch-time performance by the Hedrons at their school on Wednesday 28th February, 2007 at 1pm.

Depute Head Teacher Kerry Sinclair said: “The reason the Hedrons are performing here is because a team of our pupils won the UHI / MFR Inter School Challenge in November last year and first prize in the challenge was for a top band to play at the winning school.

“Around thirty schools took place in the challenge, sponsored by Lifescan, which saw the pupils pitch their wits against each other on current affairs, maths and science and general knowledge questions. Our team grew in confidence as the rounds progressed and were very worthy winners.  We’re really proud of them.  Wednesday should be a great day for the whole school community and we’ve got parents and pupils from the neighbouring primary school coming to join in the fun.”

Kilchuimen Academy team members, Sean Sandland, Jessica and Jamie Pargeter, and Jack McLachlan are looking forward to meeting the Hedron’s band members: Soup on drums; Gill on bass; Tippi on guitar and vocals; and Rosie, lead guitar.

Team captain, Sean Sandland said: “We can’t wait to see the Hedrons play at our own school.  It’s going to be one of the biggest days in the history of the school and it’s great that all pupils will be able to be a part of it.”
