Merkinch Partnership Aims to Support Local Community
A new Partnership for the Merkinch area of Inverness has just been formed. At a public meeting in the local Community Centre this new initiative was launched to help focus on supporting and building local projects dealing with the environment, culture and the arts, the local economy and community health. The Merkinch Partnership follows on from a very successful conference, a local community survey and meetings of representatives of local groups.
Newly appointed Project Officer, Anne Sutherland, will support the new Partnership. This is an exciting opportunity for the people of Merkinch to work together for the well being of their community.
Anne said: "This is good news for local people and will help groups and agencies in Merkinch to work more closely together."
Graham Strachan, Area Development Officer with The Highland Council, said: "There is a lot happening in the Merkinch and there is more to be done. This new Partnership will help start and develop new projects and get a fair share of money available to help large urban communities- this is Community Planning in Action."
