Bhidiothan goirid a’ cuideachadh luchd-ionnsachaidh le Gàidhlig san dachaigh
Chaidh sreath de naoi bhidiothan goirid a chruthachadh le Sgioba na Gàidhlig aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd gus cuideachadh a thoirt do phàrantan aig nach eil Gàidhlig agus aig a bheil clann a’ dol a-steach do dh’fhoghlam tron Ghàidhlig.
Tha na bhidiothan air a bheil ‘Spòrs agus Seinn Còmhla ri Ellen’ mu sheachd mionaidean de dh’fhaid agus a’ còmhdach chuspairean a bhios nam pàirt de latha àbhaisteach aig an taigh le clann òga.
Tha na cuspairean ag amas air na leanas: Ag èirigh, A’ nighe làmhan, Ag ithe, Àm stòiridh agus A’ faighinn deiseil airson na leapa. Tha seo air a dhèanamh tro bhith a’ cleachdadh òrain is abairtean sìmplidh a dh’fhaodas pàrantan a chleachdadh len cuid chloinne gus a’ Ghàidhlig a thoirt a-steach dhan dachaigh.
Tha a’ Bh-uas Ellen Jack, aig a bheil eòlas farsaing mar thidsear tron Ghàidhlig, a’ gabhail nan òran a chruthaich i fhèin. Tha na bhidiothan nan dreach goirid de chùrsa air a bheil ‘Gàidhlig do Phàrantan’ agus a chaidh a chumail gu soirbheachail aig Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis.
Rinn Cathraiche Foghlaim Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd, an Comhairliche Iain MacFhionnlaigh, moladh air na bhidiothan ùra. Thuirt e: “Tha mi cinnteach gum bi pàrantan air an dòigh glan gu bheil an goireas a bharrachd seo aca gus taic a chur ri ionnsachadh aig an dachaigh agus ri bhith a’ togail na Gàidhlig ann an dòigh spòrsail a tha a’ buntainn ri rudan a bhios a’ tachairt gu làitheil san dachaigh. Tha mi cinnteach gum bi fàilte air na bhidiothan.
“Air sgàth COVID-19 tha sinn a’ leantainn stiùireadh an Riaghaltais agus a’ cumail astar sòisealta bho chèile agus tha seo a’ ciallachadh nach eil clann òga a’ faighinn cothrom a bhith an lùib shuidheachaidhean sòisealta cho tric. Tha pròiseactan innleachdach mar seo, a mheudaicheas cothroman ICT gus taic a chur ri bhith a’ cleachdadh cànain barrachd san dachaigh, deatamach do phàrantan aig nach eil a’ Ghàidhlig agus a tha a’ cur an cuid chloinne gu Foghlam tron Ghàidhlig.”
Tha ‘Spòrs agus Seinn Còmhla ri Ellen’ a’ faighinn taic bho Bhòrd na Gàidhlig.

Video shorts help young Gaelic learners in the home.
A series of 9 short videos, have been created by The Highland Council Gaelic Team to assist non-Gaelic speaking parents who have young children entering Gaelic medium education.
The videos called “Spòrs agus Seinn Còmhla ri Ellen”, “Fun and Sing along with Ellen”, are each around 7 minutes long and cover the typical themes encountered during the average day at home with small children.
The themes focus on the following: Getting Up, Hand Washing, Eating, Story-time and Getting Ready for Bed. This is done by using simple songs and easy phrases which parents can use with their children to introduce Gaelic use in the home environment.
Mrs Ellen Jack, a very experienced Gaelic Medium teacher presents and created the songs.
The videos are a summarised version of a course called ‘Gaelic For Parents’ which took place at Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis and was very successful.
Highland Council’s Chair of Education, Cllr John Finlayson commended the creation of the new videos, he said: I am sure parents will be delighted to have this additional resource to help support home learning and Gaelic language acquisition in a fun way that relates to home routines and I am sure the videos will be well received by children too.
“Due to COVID-19, we are following government guidance and physically distancing therefore our very young children have much less social interaction. Innovative projects which maximise the use of ICT to support additional language usage in the home are vital for non-Gaelic speaking parents who are placing their children in Gaelic Medium Education.”
‘Spòrs agus Seinn Còmhla ri Ellen’ is supported by Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
