Wellie walk at Drummond school

Pupils and staff at Drummond School, Inverness stepped out yesterday (Monday 15 January 2007) on a “Wellie Walk” in the Drummond area of the city.

The walk was organised as first event of a week of planned school activities for Healthy Highland Week.

The walk was officially started to the strains of the bagpipes played by Christine Goddard, one of the school’s Learning Support Assistants. Many of the children made their own flags to carry with them on the walk.

A healthy snack was enjoyed at the close of the morning’s event and a certificate of completion will be awarded to all the participants.

Other events planned for the week include Primary and Secondary ‘keep-fit sessions’, a ‘porridge tasting session’ and a ‘haggis, neeps and tatties’ lunch.

Healthy Highland Week runs from Monday the 15th to Sunday the 21st of January 2007 and is a week long celebration of the Highlands as a healthy and vibrant place to live. Groups all around Highland are holding healthy events to help kick-start the Highland Year of Culture – Highland 2007.
