Mutual exchange policy – Housing tenant consultation
Highland Housing partners are asking their tenants to have their say on proposed changes to the mutual exchange policy.
Mutual Exchanges help tenants to move by swapping their homes with other tenants.
The Highland Council is proposing to update the criteria used to make decisions on mutual housing exchanges. Mutual Exchanges help tenants to move by swapping their homes with other tenants. In Highland, each year, around 180 households move this way.
Highland Housing Register partners are doing this together. The Highland Housing Register is a partnership of social landlords in Highland which includes the Highland Council, Albyn Housing Society, Cairn Housing, Caledonia Housing Association, Lochaber Housing Association, Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association and Pentland Housing Association.
The proposed changes are to: make better use of funding; meet housing needs and; make sure we are consistent in our decision making across Highland.
Tenants are invited to complete a short survey to record their views on what they think of the proposed changes. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MEXHC2020
The consultation closes on Monday 21 September 2020.
Anyone who cannot do the online survey but wants to give the partners their views, should contact their Landlord’s local housing office.
