Ceannard Ùr airson Bun-Sgoil Shlèite
Chaidh Ceitidh Wight a chur an dreuchd le Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd mar Cheannard air Bun-Sgoil Shlèite anns an Eilean Sgitheanach.
Tha a’ Bh-uas Wight an-dràsta ag obair aig Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce ann an Dùn Èideann mar Iar-Cheannard. Bidh i a’ tòiseachadh san dreuchd aig deireadh na Samhna.
Tha Comhairlichean ionadail na Gàidhealtachd airson Uàrd an Eilein Sgitheanaich: 10 Eilean a’ Cheò, na Comhairlichean Iain Fionnlastan agus Calum Rothach, air fàilte a chur air a’ Bh-uas Wright an dà chuid do Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus dhan Eilean Sgitheanach.
Thuirt Cathraiche Comataidh Foghlaim na Comhairle, an Comhairliche Iain Fionnlastan: “Tha mi fìor thoilichte fàilte a chur air Ceitidh Wight dhan Ghàidhealtachd mar Cheannard air Bun-Sgoil Shlèite agus tha mi cinnteach gum bi sgoilearan, luchd-obrach agus coimhearsnachd na sgoile cuideachd air an dòigh glan. Tha mi cinnteach gun còrd e ri Ceitidh a bhith ag obair ann an coimhearsnachd air a bheil i cho eòlach bho a làithean ann an Sabhal Mòr Ostaig agus gun cuir i taic ris a’ chlàr-ghnothaich leasachaidh airson sgoiltean na Gàidhealtachd air fad agus mòr-mhiannan fa leth Bun-Sgoil Shlèite a’ dol air adhart.”
Cuideachd, thuirt an Comhairliche Calum Rothach, Cathraiche Comataidh na Gàidhlig: “Tha an neach-dreuchd ùr seo do Bhun-Sgoil Shlèite a’ cuideachadh gus dealas na Comhairle don Ghàidhlig agus Foghlam Gàidhlig a dhaingneachadh. Bha a’ Bh-uas Wight na tagraiche air leth airson na dreuchd. Tha bliadhnaichean de eòlas practaigeach agus ceannardais aice ann am Foghlam tron Ghàidhlig, thug i seachad a lèirsinn airson na sgoile agus thaisbean i na feartan uile a tha a dhìth air Ceannard soirbheachail. Tha mi a’ creidsinn gum bi i na sàr Cheannard airson Bun-Sgoil Shlèite agus gun cuir i gu mòr ris a’ choimhearsnachd ùir aice.”
Thuirt a’ Bh-uas Wight: “Tha mi fìor thoilichte gun deach mo chur an dreuchd mar Cheannard air Bun-Sgoil Shlèite. Tha mi a’ coimhead air adhart ri bhith a’ cur eòlas air an luchd-ionnsachaidh, an luchd-obrach, na teaghlaichean agus a’ choimhearsnachd san fharsaingeachd agus obrachadh còmhla gus lèirsinn is luachan na sgoile a thoirt gu buil.”
New Head Teacher for Bun-Sgoil Shlèite
Katie Wight has been appointed by The Highland Council as Head Teacher of Bun-Sgoil Shlèite on the Isle of Skye.
Mrs Wight currently works at Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce, Edinburgh as a Depute Head Teacher. She takes up her new post in late November.
Local Highland Councillors for the Skye Ward: 10 Eilean a' Cheò, Cllrs John Finlayson and Calum Munro have welcomed Mrs Wight both to The Highland Council and Skye.
Chair of the Council’s Education Committee Cllr Finlayson said: “I am delighted to welcome Katie Wight to Highland as Head Teacher of Bun-Sgoil Shlèite and I am sure pupils, staff and the school community are also delighted with her appointment. I am sure Katie will enjoy working in a community she knows well from her days at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and to supporting the improvement agenda for all Highland schools and the individual ambitions of Bun-Sgoil Shlèite going forward.”
Councillor Calum Munro, Chair of the Gaelic Committee added: “This new appointment to Bun-Sgoil Shlèite helps to reaffirm the Council’s commitment to Gaelic and Gaelic Education. Mrs Wight was an outstanding candidate for the post. She has years of practical and leadership experience in GME, she shared her vision for the school and demonstrated all the attributes of a successful Head Teacher. I believe she will be a fantastic, committed Head Teacher for Bun-Sgoil Shlèite and a great asset to her new community.”
Mrs Wight said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Head Teacher of Bun-Sgoil Shlèite. I am looking forward to getting to know the learners, staff, families and the wider community and working together to realise the vision and values of the school.”
