Guided Walks To Look At Winter Wildlife

The Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers have organised two guided walks looking at the habitats and wildlife that survive through the winter.
 
Suitable for well shod adults, the first event takes place on Thursday 1st February with a winter walk around Beachen Woods in Grantown.  Anyone wishing to come along should meet up at 10am at the Grantown-on-Spey Caravan Park on Seafield Road for the two hour walk.

The next walk, on Wednesday 7th February from 10am – 12 noon, is to Uath Lochans in Glen Feshie. Anyone wishing to come along should turn left off the B970 at Insh House and follow the road to the Forestry Commission car park for a 10am start.
 
Countryside Ranger Duncan Macdonald said: “This is a great opportunity for people interested in nature and the outdoors to come and visit these spectacular bog pool formations which are rather unique in the area.  “There is a whole different world up there in Glen Feshie as the area is surrounded by ancient Caledonian Pine forest.”

“Winter is such a lovely time to get out and about” added Saranne Bish, Countryside Ranger for Strathspey; “If the weathers kind you can get to see all sorts as not everything hibernates come the winter!”
