Council responds to Sutherland flooding
The Highland Council’s roads team has been responding to localised flooding in the Sutherland area.
The C1140 Lower Gledfield - Baldownie Bridge Road at Gledfield House has been closed at the request of Police Scotland due to localised flooding. Police and Fire services have been in attendance and the Council has deployed sandbags. The road remains closed and will be reviewed in the morning.
The A836 at Kincardine Hill / cemetery area has experienced water flowing onto the adjacent cemetery and carpark causing flooding.
Also, at Ardchronie Quarry water is flowing onto the A836.
A forest track has washed out onto the public road depositing large amounts of debris on the B9176 Struie at High Bridge.
On the A836 Oldtown – Ardgay Road water is flowing onto the main road.
Reports have also been received of local impact in the Bettyhill and Tongue areas
The main extent of the flooding has been concentrated around the Ardgay area with water levels dropping as the rain has eased.
