Alness Youngsters Enjoy Summer Camp
24 youngsters from The Place in Alness recently braced the weather and spent 5 action-packed days at Badaguish near Aviemore on a team building trip organised by The Highland Council’s Youth Development team in Alness
Funding for the trip came from Children in Need, Out of School Hours project and the young people themselves.
Four lodges at Badaguish are now leased by the Council which is a brilliant venue for taking young people away on activity trips. Despite the weather the youngsters had a brilliant time under the watchful eye of the Boots N’ Paddles experienced staff and had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities which included canoeing, high ropes, mountain biking and gorge walking. Evenings were spent playing games and if you were to believe their evaluation sheets the most popular being bingo!”
The youngsters were accompanied by workers from the Youth Work Team based in Alness.
Youth Development Officer, Janette Douglas said: “Despite having very little sleep over the 5 days the young people were excellent and a credit to Alness. They were considerate and helpful towards each other and took part in all the activities on offer. The staff from Boots N’ Paddles made sure that the trip was an enjoyable experience for them despite the weather,”
