Highland Council welcomes Head Teacher appointments
The Highland Council is pleased to announce two Head Teacher appointments of Kirsty Guthrie and Emily Brown at primary schools in the Inverness-shire area.
Kirsty joins us a Head Teacher at Farr Primary School, by Inverness, from her current position as a Principal Teacher in Kinnoull Primary School in Perth & Kinross. She also deputised for the Head Teacher and acted as mentor for probationer teachers.
Kirsty was also the School’s Child Protection Officer, working in conjunction with children, staff and parents ensuring that interventions were targeted to support children with additional support needs and also those who are achieving at levels higher than expected.
She is looking forward to moving to Highland and to begin working with the Farr Primary School community in the New Year.
Emily joins us as Cluster Head Teacher for Invergarry and Spean Bridge Primary Schools.
Prior to her new appointment, she was Acting Head Teacher for the Invergarry and Spean Bridge Primary Cluster.
Emily was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Education from the University of Glasgow and a Bachelor of Arts from Pacific University in Oregon, USA. She was seconded to the role of Primary Science Development Officer for the RAiSE programme in The Highland Council and previously worked in the cluster as the Principal Teacher (Curriculum) for Spean Bridge Primary.
Chair of the Education Committee, Cllr John Finlayson said: “I would like to welcome and congratulate both Kirsty and Emily on their new roles. Both will bring a wealth of experience to their school communities and I look forward to working with each of them in the New Year.”
