Fire at Park Primary site
The Highland Council is working closely with emergency services who are currently on site of a fire at the old school building of Park Primary in Invergordon.
The fire was reported at around 7am this morning, Saturday 27 February 2021.
The extent of damage to the old school building and the source of the fire is not yet confirmed. This will be subject to a full fire investigation by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Fencing is in place around the site and people are advised to stay away from the site. A number of surrounding roads have been temporarily closed at the request of the Police while the response to the incident is ongoing.
Park Primary pupils have been attending Invergordon Academy School and nursery children at South Lodge Nursery since the fire at Park Primary in February 2020.
Chair of the Education Committee Cllr John Finlayson said: “Our main concern is supporting pupils and teachers who may be affected by this news almost a year to the day from the fire at Park Primary.”
Highland Council Officers are in the process of planning meetings for Monday with parents and staff to share information and to ensure supports are in place for the children and staff.
