Wildlife Box Building Event In Nairn.

On Wednesday (1 August) there will be a house building event with a difference when participants get the chance to try their hand at making bat, bird and red squirrel boxes at Tradespark Woods in Nairn.

The event, which is being run by the Tradespark Woods Voluntary Wardens and the Local Highland Council countryside ranger, is free and all tools and materials will be provided.  
 
John Orr, Countryside ranger for Inverness East and Nairn said: “The woods here are full of all kinds of wildlife but there is definitely a housing shortage. The trees of Tradespark were originally planted for timber and are tall and straight. There are very few large side branches and other nooks and crannies for birds, bats and squirrels to find nest and roosting sites. This will be a fun event and a chance for people to help local wildlife and learn a few skills.”

The event will run from 2 to 4.30pm at the picnic area of Tradespark Woods, off Moss-side Road.  All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult
