Highland pupils compete for sport trophy

Around 240 pupils from schools throughout the Highlands will compete at basketball and football for the annual Macrobert Cup today, (Tuesday 19th June, 2007) at Inverness Royal Academy.

Organised by Highland Council’s schools sports coordinators, the Macrobert Cup brings together secondary school aged pupils offering them an opportunity to experience competitive sport.

Thirty two teams will compete in boys and girls basketball and football representing the following schools in the area: Wick High, Thurso High, Golspie High, Fortrose Academy, Ullapool High, Dornoch Academy, Tain Royal Academy, Invergordon High, Millburn Academy, Glen Urquhart High, Kinlochleven High, Mallaig High, and. Plockton High,

Alan Clark, Active Schools Manager said: “The Macrobert Cup, which was first instigated by the Highland Sport Development Association, is always hotly contested and this year’s teams are promising some high quality competition.”
