Chance to fawn over deer calves

A special family event has been organised to watch wild deer and their new born claves as they feed on the lawn at a secret location within Badenoch.

Highland Council Rangers Duncan Macdonald and Saranne Bish will join the Cairngorm National Park’s Deer and Upland Officer Colin McClean as they host the event on Tuesday 12 June from 7pm to 10pm.

Ranger Duncan Macdonald said: ‘This will be a wonderful opportunity to watch these delightful creatures in their natural environment as they graze in the wild. People coming along will be able to watch the deer feed with their newly born calves from the comfort of the Lairds drawing room.  Refreshments will be served and there will be plenty of stories as families relax in comfy chairs while admiring these beautiful and graceful animals.”

Colin McClean from the Cairngorm National Park Authority added: “This is a special event for folk to get to know the workings of an estate and learn how the deer are so important to the highland way of life."

This family event is free but places are limited and should be booked in advance as soon as possible by contacting Saranne Bish on 01479 873 914.  Full details of directions and parking arrangements will be given when making a booking.
