Cuach na Cloinne 2021 air loidhne
A’ dh’aindheoin bacaidhean leantainneach COVID-19, tha tachartas ball coise cliùiteach ‘Cuach na Cloinne’ gu bhith a’ tachairt a-rithist ann an 2021 – ach ann an cruth rudeigin eadar-dhealaichte.
Air tòiseachadh air 7mh den Chèitean, tha seiseanan air loidhne gu bhith ann gus cothrom a thoirt do dhaoine òga, ann am foghlam tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig air feadh Alba, sgilean ùr ionnsachadh, ach eòlas nas doimhne a chuir air a’ gheama cuideachd tro còmhraidhean is agallamhan le cluicheadairean proifeiseanta.
Tha na tha seo a’ tachairt ann an compàirteachas ùr eadar Comunn na Gàidhlig agus a’ bhuidheann FC Sonas, agus ann an ceum ùr eile, bidh seo airson bun-sgoiltean agus àrd-sgoiltean – a chiad uair a bha cothrom aig feadhainn sna h-àrd-sgoiltean a dhol an sàs ann an Cuach na Cloinne.
Chaidh FC Sonas a’ stèidheachadh gus sgilean ball-coise a bhrosnachadh tro a’ Ghàidhlig, a co-measgachadh ùidh na stèidheadairean ann am ball-coise is a’ chànan. Ron a’ chaidh a’ bhuidheann stèidheachadh, bha stèidheadairean FC Sonas a’ tabhainn club is campa ball-coise tro a’ Ghàidhlig gus taic a’ thoirt gu obair Oifigearan Coimhearsnachd Leasachaidh is Ionnsachaidh aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd. Chaidh iarraidh air FC Sonas a’ cumail a’ dol leis an obair seo gus taic a’ chumail le sgoilearan FtMG, teaghlaichean agus sgoiltean tro suidheachadh COVID-19. Air sgàth ’s na riaghailtean, bha feum aig an obair seo atharrachadh gus am b’ urrainn dhaibh cothroman a thabhainn air loidhne.
Thèid seiseanan na cluicheadairean a lìbhrigeadh air loidhne gach madainn Dihaoine airson 4 seachdainean tron Chèitean, le cothrom an uairsin a dhol a-mach agus na dùbhlain a tha iad air fhaicinn, feuchainn air an roinn-cluich faisg orra. Thèid gach seisean air a’ chlàradh le cluicheadairean ball-coise proifeiseanta bhon a’ Ghàidhealtachd a chaidh tro Foghlam tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig.
Thuirt Marina Mhoireach, Stiùiriche Leasachaidh Chomunn na Gàidhlig, “Tha Cuach na Cloinne air cliù a chosnadh dha fhèin thar nam bliadhnachan, agus tha e a-nis gu mòr stèidhte ann am mìosachan nan sgoiltean, leis a’ chlann gu mòr a’ coimhead air adhart ris. Tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart ri tachartas eadar-dhealaichte am bliadhna agus an tachartas a chumail beò airson sgoilearan. Tha e cudromach gu bheil clann a tha a’ dol tro fhoghlam tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig a’ faighinn cothroman a bhith a’ cleachdadh an cànan taobh a-muigh an t-seòmar-sgoile agus le spòrs.
“Tha sinn gu math toilichte cuideachd a bhith ag obair còmhla ri FC Sonas agus tha mi airson taing a thoirt do na buidhnean a tha a’ cur taic ri Cuach na Cloinne, `s iad sin, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.”
Thuirt Calum Fearghasdan bho FC Sonas, "Tha sinn air ar dòigh glan gu bheil FC Sonas agus CNAG ag obair còmhla airson Cuach Na Cloinne a' cur air loidhne am-bliadhna sa! Ged nach urrainn dhuinn fhathast a bhith uile còmhla tha sinn an dòchas gun glac an Fhèis Ball-Coise air loidhne aire sgoilearan - Bun-sgoiltean agus Àrd-sgoiltean - is Neach-Stiùiridh air feadh na dùthcha!
“Tha na Seiseanan air loidhne còmhla ri Cluicheadairean agus Neach-Stiùiridh Proifeiseanta mar goireas foghlaim airson stiùireadh a thoirt gu sgoilearan, tidsearan, còidseachan agus luchd-obrach, is mar a tha e comasach ball-coise a’ chleachdadh mar inneal!"
Tron phrògram bithear a’ bruidhinn ri feadhainn de luchd-labhairt na Gàidhlig a tha ri ’n lorg ann an saoghal ball-coise, an dà chuid cluicheadairean agus eòlaichean. Bidh deasbadan ann, ceistean, dùbhlain agus tòrr eile aig gach seisean. Cuideachd, tha cothrom aig an Neach-stiùiridh sgilean còidse ionnsachadh am bliadhna tron tachartas. Thèid seiseanan dhaibhsan a chumail air loidhne cuideachd.
Mar às àbhaist ’s e co-fharpais ball-coise nàiseanta a th’ ann an Cuach na Cloinne, a tha a’ cruthachadh chothroman do dhaoine òga bho sgoiltean air feadh Alba a tha ann am Foghlam tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig, a bhith a’ coinneachadh agus a’ farpais an aghaidh a chèile agus tha e a’ dèanamh ceangal eadar sgilean cànan Gàidhlig agus ball-coise ann an dòigh in-ghabhalach agus dibhearsaineach. Tha an fharpais air a’ cumail gu tur tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig.
Le suidheachadh Covid-19, tha e do-dhèanta an fharpais a chumail san cruth a tha seo, ach tha air ìmpidh is cothrom a thoirt dhuinn rudeigin eadar-dhealaichte dhèanamh, agus beagan spòrs a thoirt don òigridh fhathast is aca ri fuireachd anns na sgìrean aca fhèin.
Thuirt Comhairliche Calum Munro, Cathraiche Comataidh na Gàidhlig aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd, “B’ fheudar do ‘Cuach na Cloinne’ a’ tachairt ann am pàircean ball-coise air feadh na dùthcha. Chaidh atharrachadh, mar tòrr thachartasan eile, gus am b’ urrainn dha tachairt gu didseatach.
Tha e fior mhath gum b’ urrainn Comunn na Gàidhlig, le taic bho Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus buidhnean eile, an tachartas seo a-ruith a tha a’ measgachadh Gàidhlig agus cluiche ball-coise. Tha e gu math cudromach gu bheil cothroman aig an òigridh an cuid sgilean conaltraidh a chleachdadh fhad ’s a tha iad a’ gabhail pàirt ann an cur-seachadan mar spòrs.”
“Tha mi a’ guidhe soirbheachais dha gach neach a bhios a’ gabhail pàirt agus tha mi cinnteach gun toir an trèanadh earbsa is brosnachadh dhan òigridh Gàidhlig a chleachdadh, agus sgilean ball-coise is togail cànan ùr.”
A-rèir mar a thèid leinn, mathaid gum faic sinn rudan air leth-soirbheachail an seo, a ghabhadh cleachdadh a-rithist fiùs nuair a thilleas cothroman siubhail.
Tha sgoiltean air feadh Alba air clàradh airson pàirt a ghabhail san tachartas, a chaidh tòiseachadh air Dihaoine 7mh den Chèitean aig 10m.
Tha Cuach na Cloinne 2021 air a’ mhaoineachadh le Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar agus Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus air a’ chur air dòigh le Comunn na Gàidhlig.

Cuach na Cloinne 2021 Online
Despite the continuing challenges of Covid-19, the well known football event ‘Cuach na Cloinne’ will take place again in 2021 – albeit in a different style.
The event, which began on 7th May, is offering online sessions to young people, in Gaelic medium education in Scotland, with an opportunity to learn new skills and gain a deeper understanding of the game through conversations and interviews with professional footballers through Gaelic.
This is happening as a result of a new partnership between Comunn na Gàidhlig and FC Sonas, and with another new addition, the resource will be available for both primary and secondary schools to take part – the first time it has been possible for secondary schools to take in Cuach na Cloinne.
FC Sonas was set up to promote the development of football skills through the medium of Gaelic, combining the founders dual passions of football and the Gaelic language. Prior to its inception, the FC Sonas founders were employed to deliver a Gaelic medium football club and football camp to support the work of the Highland Council Community Learning and Development Officers. FC Sonas were commissioned to continue this work in order to support Gaelic Medium pupils, families and schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions imposed during this time has meant this work had to be adapted accordingly which has meant mainly online work.
Throughout May, a session will be available to schools and young people each Friday morning, with an opportunity for pupils to then practice the challenges and skills they’ve seen, in their local area. The sessions are filmed with professional football players that hail from the Highlands and went through Gaelic Medium Education.
Marina Murray, Development Director at Comunn na Gàidhlig said, “Cuach na Cloinne has built up a good reputation and is now firmly established in the school calendar, with the children all looking forward to playing in it. We are looking forward to a different opportunity this year which will keep the event interesting and attractive to participants. It is important that pupils going through Gaelic medium education are provided with opportunities to use their language outwith the classroom and through sport.”
“I am delighted to be working in partnership with FC Sonas and want to record my gratitude to the sponsors of Cuach na Cloinne, without whose assistance the competition wouldn’t happen. They are Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and The Highland Council.”
Calum Ferguson, FC Sonas said “We are really happy to be working with CnaG to deliver Cuach na Cloinne online this year! Although we still can’t meet together, we hope this event will attract pupils in both primary and secondary schools – and coaches throughout Scotland! “
“The online sessions for players and coaches are an educational resource to assist pupils, teachers and coaches develop their skills using football as a tool!”
The programme will include and showcase Gaelic speakers in the football world, both players and experts. Providing information through interviews, challenges and much more each session. There will also be an opportunity for coaches/teachers to develop their coaching skills as part of the event. These sessions will also be held online.
Cuach na Cloinne is a national football competition, which creates an opportunity for young people from schools across Scotland who attend Gaelic Medium Education to meet and compete against each other and combines their Gaelic linguistic and footballing skills in an inclusive and entertaining manner. The competition is held entirely in Gaelic.
It was not possible to hold the usual style of competition this year as a result of the impact of Covid-19, so we hope this will maintain interest of young people in football and allow them to play the sport while using their Gaelic and learn new skills, while staying local.
Councillor Calum Munro, Chair of Gaelic Committee at Highland Council, said, “Cuach na Cloinne would normally be taking place physically on pitches across the Country. It has been adapted, like many other events, to take place digitally. It’s terrific that Comunn na Gàidhlig with support from the Highland Council and other organisations are able to run the event which combines both footballing and Gaelic skills. It is important that young people are given the opportunity to use their linguistic skills whilst taking part in extra curricular activities such as sport”.
“I wish all the participants every success and I’m sure the training events will inspire young people to use Gaelic and also acquire new footballing and Gaelic language acquisition skills.”
This could become an important resource, which could be used even when opportunities to travel and meet return.
Schools all over Scotland have registered to take part in the event which began on Friday 7th May at 10am.
Cuach na Cloinne 2021 is funded by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and The Highland Council and organised by Comunn na Gàidhlig.
