Portree roads improvement works ongoing
Works by The Highland Council to improve various roads in Portree are ongoing this week.
The timescale for the works has been extended into this week as progress on the project was delayed due to circumstances outwith the Council's control. The anticipated timescale for completion has been extended for at least a week.
Motorists are advised that there will be traffic management and/or temporary road closures in the Portree area due to resurfacing works at Home Farm Road; and York Drive.
Works on Home Farm Road will be carried out between the hours of 6pm and 6am on the nights of Monday 24 May and Tuesday 25 May. Noise mitigation measures will be in place although unforeseen factors may mean some noisier works may take place after 11pm. By carrying out the works during these times it is anticipated that this will minimise disruption to adjacent businesses and residents. Traffic management will be in place for the duration of the works; however, lane or road closures may be required and will be removed at the end of the working period that day. Delays will be likely, and motorists and pedestrians are asked to obey signs and directions given by the traffic management operatives.
The resurfacing works on York Drive are scheduled to take place on Thursday 27 May and Friday 28 May between the hours of 8am and 8pm. To enable the works to be carried out safely, the road will be closed during the works and reopened after the works are completed for the day. Access for emergency services will be maintained during the closure time.

It’s very important to know how to report damage to Highland Council-maintained roads and pavements (including potholes). This can be done by using the online forms on the Council’s website at www.highland.gov.uk/report
