Graduate Intern opportunities in The Highland Council
The Highland Council are excited to announce the launch of their 2021 Graduate Intern Programme. Supported by the Scottish Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee funding, there are 20 positions available this year across the Council’s services.
Councillor Bill Lobban, Convener of The Highland Council said: “Gaining experience in the workplace to substantiate further education is vital and this 6-month programme will give graduates a valuable insight into the public sector.
“Our Graduate Intern programme will allow the Council to nurture our home grown talent, offering them a fast paced learning environment where they can thrive under the support of a Lead Officer, building a strong foundation for professional success.”
Candidates for Graduate Intern posts should be qualified to HND or Degree Level and must be under 25 years of age at the point of submitting an application. They should be resident in the Highland Council area for the duration of the 6-month programme.
The Highland Council actively promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace and applications are welcome from all that meet these criteria.
Councillor Lobban added: “This is an excellent opportunity for bright, ambitious young people who are looking to grow and develop a successful career within the public sector or gain experience and transferable skills. Competition for permanent graduate posts is intense, and the experience gained in an internship will enhance young people’s confidence and employability.”
The Graduate Intern Programme is one of a number of Highland Council initiatives to support employment of Highland residents within the Highland Council area, including the Highland Employment Recruitment Offer (HERO) and the Youth Trainee Scheme.
