Book now for Summer of Hope programme
The Highland Council has created an online directory and webpage for the Summer of Hope programme to make it easier for families to find and book activities on offer this summer. Activities have been promoted by schools and Partners and are filling up fast but there is still time to grab some remaining spaces.
Education Chair, Cllr John Finlayson said: “I want to thank all of our staff, pupils, parents and key partners for their support after what has been a challenging school year in so many, different ways. Everyone has showed tremendous resilience, put in a great amount of effort and demonstrated excellent team working throughout what has been a difficult school session and I wish them the best during their well-deserved holidays, even though they have already started.
“Council staff have been working with Partners across Highland to create and deliver a programme of fun activities for our children and young people and the programme is now underway. I would encourage Highland families to take a look at what is on offer in their area and take advantage of the fantastic sessions and events coming to so many communities over the next few weeks.
“This summer is a time to have fun, to recharge batteries, and to look ahead to hopefully, a less disrupted school session from August”.
The Scottish Government announced £20m nationally to help us 'Get Into Summer' as part of the recovery from Covid-19. Supported by this funding, we want to help our children, young people and families to get outdoors and confidently socialise and re-connect after a challenging year around COVID-19.
We are working with a range of Partners and have built an offering of free summer experiences which will provide children and young people across Highland access to playful, creative and engaging experiences as part of our Summer of Hope programme.
The offer of the programme is not identical across the Authority. However, every effort has been made to meet more of the specific needs of pupils by planning for experiences to reflect the unique cultural and economic profile of each local area.

To help keep our communities safe this summer, do not attend any activity if you are showing Covid-19 symptoms. These are: a new continuous cough; fever/high temperature; a change in/or loss of taste or smell. If you develop symptoms you should remain self-isolating at home and arrange a test via NHS Inform or, if you can't get online, by calling 0800 028 2816.
