Advice About Losing Your Roof Under One Roof

People living in the Dingwall area who are at risk of having nowhere to live are being urged to drop in to an information day being held on Thursday 21 June in the town.

The help day has been organised by The Highland Council’s Housing and Property Service to bring together some of the organizations who can give advice if people are homeless or at risk of being homeless.

Stephen Callan, Assistant Area Housing Manager for Ross and Cromarty, invited people to attend to find out more about the help that is there for them at what could be a difficult time.

“Lots of people may find themselves in a situation where they are at risk of losing their home for a variety of reasons such as marriage break up, having to leave an insecure tenancy, domestic abuse, not getting on with family and so on.” He said.

“Coping with the cause of the problem can be difficult enough, and then you have to cope with the possibility of having nowhere to live as well.

Transport costs can make it difficult for people on benefits to access these organizations but this day in Dingwall will bring the help people may need to their your local area. If this service is found to be helpful it may become a regular event.”

People are invited to come along at any time to the information day which is running from 12noon to 4pm on Thursday 21 June in the Dingwall Community Centre.  For those that are popping in during their lunch hour, free soup and sandwiches will be provided.

The Calman Trust, Blast, Advocacy Highland and the Youth Action Team are just some of the organisations that will be at the information day to offer support and advice.

If anyone is not able to attend the day but would like to speak to someone about the help available, they should call Shonette MacKay, The Highland Council’s Resettlement Officer based at Dingwall Service Point on 01349 868687.
