Nominations are being invited from people seeking election to ten Highland community councils covering areas in Ross and Cromarty, the Isle of Skye, Inverness, Badenoch and Strathspey and Lochaber. 

Community Councils are voluntary organisations that express the views and concerns of local people within their area across a wide range of issues from new buildings and roads to local services and facilities.

The need to hold interim elections has come about due to the resignation of some members which have brought the community councils down to below half of their memberships

The community councils looking for people to put themselves forward are:

• Cradlehall and Westhill Community Council * final attempt to try and reform
• Dalwhinnie Community Council
• Gairloch Community Council
• Glendale Communtiy Council
• Kingussie and Vicinity Community Council
• Kinlochleven Community Council
• Marybank, Scatwell and Strathconon Community Council
• Nigg and Shandwick Community Council
• Slackbuie Community Council
• Wester Loch Ewe Community

To stand for election candidates must be entered in the current Electoral Register for the Community Council area.

Nomination forms and copies of the scheme for the establishment of Community Councils can be:

• downloaded from The Highland Council website at: www.highland.gov.uk/elections ;
• obtained on request, by email to: election@highland.gov.uk ; or
• by contacting the appropriate Ward Manager.

Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the appropriate Ward Manager and be received not later than 12noon on Tuesday 31 August 2021.

The following list of Ward Managers will accept emailed copies of the form, so long as it has been correctly completed and contains the signature of  the candidate and witness.
