Additional investment in Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Roads approved
Members of the Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Committee were updated on progress made for the 2020/21 roads maintenance programme for the area and approved how the additional £100,000 ward 5 allocation and the additional capital schemes funded from the Capital Budget will be spent.
Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh area has a total of 48% of the road length of the former Ross and Cromarty area so the capital allocation for the area is set at 48% in addition to the £100,000 ward allocation
Safety inspections and input and feedback from Ward members has been used to prepare the programme of works that will also see £318,191 invested in overlay/inlay works and £221,707 for surface dressing.
The programme approved by the Committee members includes various local structural repairs, patching across the whole area, surface dressing works, inlay and overlay works including:
- Overlay works on the A832 Kerrysdale, Strathy Hill, Plockton; the A896 at Kishorn Hill, Balvraid Road in Strathpeffer and the Rhue Road near Ullapool and the C1043 Strathconon Road.
- Inlay works on Kyle Main Street and Kyle Industrial Estate, Golf Course Road in Strathpeffer and Strathpeffer Square.
- Surface dressing works on the A832 at Slattadale, the A890 between Strathcarron Hotel – Attadale House, Achnasheen Roundabout, a 7km stretch along the A896 at Kinlochewe and the Letters – Logie Road
Chair of the Committee, Cllr Ian Cockburn said: “It’s been a terrific effort by the roads team to undertake so many of the projects before the onset of winter. It has been an extremely busy period and they all deserve credit for their hard work.”
