Council announces dates of two-day Highland Climate Change Conference 2021
This year's Highland Climate Change Conference is taking place on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 October 2021.
The Conference is a fantastic opportunity to bring people together from across and beyond Highland to discuss the climate and ecological emergency.
With the help of some eminent speakers, the conference will explore topics relating to energy, land and sea, reaching net zero and building resilient communities.
Chair of Highland Council's Climate Change Working Group, Cllr Trish Robertson, said: "Last year Highland Council hosted an online conference bringing together participants from all over the Highlands. Here we have an opportunity to get together again to learn more about what we can do to address the climate emergency."
Within the context of COP26 (United Nations Climate Conference, COP stands for Conference of the Parties) being held in Glasgow, this is set to be the most important and impactful climate change conference we have ever held.
Unlike last year's one day event, this year’s conference and associated workshops will all take place online and over two days. It will be completely free to attend.
It will feature speakers from Government, organisations, climate groups, community groups and individuals taking action to tackle the climate and ecological emergency.
The agenda and full list of speakers will be released in the weeks leading up to the event. You can keep updated on Twitter
