Tributes paid to former Councillor Ron Lyon
The Highland Council has paid tribute to former Councillor Ron Lyon who died last week.
Ron Lyon was elected to The Highland Council in 1999 and again in 2003 for the Inverness West Ward (prior to which he was an Inverness District Councillor elected in 1992 to serve the Craigphadrig Ward).
He served on The Highland Council’s Inverness Area Committee and was latterly a Member of the former:
- Planning, Development, Europe and Tourism Committee;
- Transport, Environmental and Community Services Committee;
- Audit and Standards Committee;
- Sustainable Development Select Committee; and the
- Land and Environment Select Committee.
Leader of The Highland Council Cllr Margaret Davidson said: “Ron was a very good colleague. We served on the Council for some years at the same time. Both Ron and his wife were very supportive of his civic duties at the Town House. I remember his love of running and keep fit and his dedication, insight, knowledge, and experience that he brought to debate in the Council Chamber. My deepest condolences go to his family and friends at this time."
Provost of Inverness and Area Cllr Helen Carmichael said: “Ron was a great mentor to me when I joined the Inverness Committee as a new member. He was always kind, helpful and very patient in replying to all the questions I had. He was a wonderful councillor and a good man. My thoughts are with his wife and family.”
