Closure of Uig Primary School

The Highland Council confirms that it has implemented its proposal to formally close Uig Primary School, Isle of Skye.

Between 2019 and 2021 the Council undertook extensive consultation on a proposal to close the school.  

As with all school closures, the proposal was referred to Scottish Ministers, who can decide to “call-in” a school closure proposal for further investigation.

On  2 November 2021 Ministers confirmed that the closure proposal will not be called in, and that Highland Council may therefore proceed to implement the closure.

The Highland Council will work with the community to explore how to make best use of the former Uig Primary School building.
