HRH The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – Lord Provostship
The Highland Council’s City of Inverness Area Committee has agreed to an application being made to HRH Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Lord Provostship Competition.
The application is being made for the grant of ‘Lord Provostship’ status which would be attached to the title of the Provost of Inverness – if granted.
The competition, which is open to any local authority in the United Kingdom is part of her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
An application will be submitted by 8 December 2021 within the context of the title attaching to the post of Provost and not the post holder.
If successful, all future Provosts of the City of Inverness would hold the title of Lord Provost. This would not have any impact on the role of the Lord Lieutenant for Inverness Shire, who would remain the Queen’s Representative.
Members gave approval to an application being made which includes the granting of £2,000 Inverness Common Good Funding to support the preparation of the application along with £1,500 funding from the Council’s Infrastructure and Environment budget.
