Inverness City Arts project completed
A final annual report of the Inverness City Arts Working Group (ICArts) was presented to Highland Council’s City of Inverness Area Committee today (18 November 2021) – marking the completion of the ICArts Programme and its final project – the Gathering Place (My Ness).
Councillors noted the completion of the construction of the Gathering Place art installation with additional adjustments and arrangements made for improved disabled access.
The total funding for the entire River Arts Programme is £0.790m. This includes
£0.027m of additional funding from Creative Scotland, to enhance disabled access at the Gathering Place.
Councillors noted that the ICArts Working Group has discharged all its functions and that all other approved and fully funded projects under the Inverness City Arts Project Programme, have been concluded in terms of governance set by the City of Inverness Area Committee.
Members agreed to dissolve the Inverness City Arts Working Group with immediate effect.
Provost of Inverness and Area Cllr Helen Carmichael said: “I would like to thank the many people who took part in the Inverness City Arts project over the years since it was launched in 2013, including the artists, public, councillors, Highland Council and High Life Highland staff and contractors for their support. I would also like to thank the funding partners who invested in the provision of public art in our city and in particular for the support received from Creative Scotland without which the final elements of the project could not have been delivered.”
The funding partners are: Creative Scotland; City of Inverness Common Good Fund; Highland Council Cities Gateway and Development & Infrastructure; and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
