Fort William and Ardnamurchan, Ward 21 By-Election Result

The by-election to elect a councillor to represent the Fort William and Ardnamurchan ward on The Highland Council has been won by Sarah Fanet (Scottish National Party) who was one of seven candidates who contested the vacancy.

Voters went to the poll yesterday (Thursday 2 December) and the by-election count was held in Lochaber High School earlier this afternoon. The count was relayed live on the Council’s social media channels.

Voting was by the single transferable vote and Sarah emerged as the winner at the 6th stage of the count.

The turnout was 25.6%.

Sarah Fanet (Scottish National Party) will join councillors Blair Allan (Scottish National Party); Andrew Baxter (Scottish Conservative and Unionist) and Niall McLean (Scottish National Party) in representing Ward 21 on The Highland Council.
