Additional teacher recruitment for 2021/22
The Highland Council has received an additional funding grant from the Scottish Government to spend towards the recruitment of an additional full-time employment of 30 primary school teachers and 25 secondary school teachers for 2021/22.
Last year, the Scottish Government provided additional funding of £2,200,000 to the Council to support Highland’s education recovery; the funding was wholly spent on additional teacher resource in schools.
Education Chair, Cllr John Finlayson said: “I am delighted that we have received this badly needed and welcome additional funding stream from the Scottish Government so we can provide extra support to our over 200 schools next year. This funding will not only help in the recruitment of additional teachers, but it will also help to protect jobs for other staff who continue to show dedication and work hard in our many educational settings. This has and will continue to be a challenging time for school staff, pupils and parents, and all additional funding will help towards building our resilience and lifting some of the pressures currently being experienced by schools”.
The recruitment for additional school teachers will begin early next year.
