Supporting COSLA's case for better financial settlement
Highland Council Leader and Depute Leader support COSLA’s case for a better financial settlement for next year, following unanimous agreement at a virtual meeting of Council Leaders last night.
The Local Government financial settlement circulated to councils again shows a real-terms cut in core funding.
Leader of The Highland Council, Councillor Margaret Davidson said;
“We owe it to communities in the Highlands to demand a better financial settlement as a matter of urgency.
"This settlement as it stands does not take account of significant pressures including pay, inflation and the increased burden of National Insurance Contributions."
Depute Leader, Cllr Alasdair Christie added:
"The cut will impact directly on vital services and our ability to recover as a region from the critical impacts of COVID and Brexit.”
