New nursery building handed over to Arisaig Primary School
A new nursery building at Arisaig Primary School has been completed and handed over to the school.
Chair of the Education Committee, Cllr John Finlayson said: “I was pleased to see the completion of this important and high-quality project. I am sure children, staff, parents and the wider community are all delighted with their new 21 century, nursery space, which is bright, spacious and ready for use. I would like to thank everyone involved, including the contractor and council staff for completing the project, which enables us to further support the expansion of nursery provision and hours across our many communities.”
Chair of Communities & Place Committee, Cllr Allan Henderson said: “Arisaig Nursery building is a welcomed asset for the pupils, staff and wider community. The modular building is a good example of the Council’s commitment to developing sustainable and greener buildings for future generations to enjoy.”
The project allows the nursery to move out of the gym hall in the school and into its own dedicated new building (with a registered capacity of 20) that fully meets the requirements of the Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) expansion programme.
The project was delivered by the Council’s in-house Property teams with Robertson as the Principal Contractor.
A total of 82 construction projects have been taken forward to support the delivery of the ELC programme, many of which also included other essential improvements to school buildings. Although progress was disrupted due to the impact of the pandemic, 59 have now been completed with a further 15 due to be completed.
