Council Rangers get up with the Lark

Early risers are invited to join The Highland Council's rangers to experience the dawn on Saturday 10th March by the river Farr near Inverness.

At 6.30am, the Inverness Rangers will be up with the Lark on a free "Dawn Guided Walk" covering an 6km/4miles route. The walk will last until approximately 8.30am and the rangers will explore paths in the Farr area.

During the walk the Rangers will point out some of the creatures that are active at sunrise and participants will be able to appreciate the countryside at this special time of the day

Katy Martin, Senior Ranger for Inverness and Nairn said "Sunrise is a magical time of day when many of our most shy animals are active and easier to see. With spring just around the corner, the birds will be singing and pretty active too.
 
"Starting at 6.30am is a good chance to watch the world wake up as the sun rises. The walk will last for 2 hours and is free. A hot drink will be available at the end for those brave enough to get up so early!"

This dawn guided walk is part of a range of activities and events organised by Highland Council’s Planning and Development Service.

There are  Highland Council Rangers throughout the Highlands, grant aided by Scottish Natural Heritage. The role of Countryside Rangers is to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and to conserve wildlife and habitats.
