Dornoch Common Good Fund enables Public Toilets refurb
Work began this week (7 February 2022) on upgrades to the public toilets in Dornoch.
The £44k project which is being funded by the Dornoch Common Good Fund will see work done to refurbish the facilities operated by The Highland Council.
Cllr Richard Gale, Chair of Sutherland County Committee said: “I am delighted to see this project going ahead. The improvements, developed in partnership between Highland Council and Dornoch Area Community Council and funded by Dornoch Common Good Fund, will provide a significant upgrade to these well-used facilities in Dornoch Square.”
Planned works include removal of cubicles, fixings and ceramic tiles; replacing cubicles, fixings, flooring, light fittings and extractor fans; fitting a new janitorial sink and replacing entrance doors to open outwards.
While the work is ongoing signage is in place to advise all users that there is alternative toilet provision available at the temporary Comfort Scheme within the Coach House Restaurant.
The Council hopes that the works will be completed in 5 weeks, in time for the upcoming busy tourist season.
