Roads Maintenance Programme for Dingwall and Seaforth approved

Members at the Dingwall and Seaforth Area Committee have approved the 2022/23 Roads Capital Programme for the Area.

Cllr Graham MacKenzie Chair of the Dingwall and Seaforth Area Committee said: “Members have agreed the roads priorities for the area within the resources available and should future allocations allow we have a list of works prioritised for inclusion.

He added: “I am delighted that Stoney Brae is in the programme now as it is a very challenging road in the winter, and I would like to reassure people in Muir of Ord Area that Seaforth Road remains part of the roads programme. Where there will be extensive works such as at Kinnairdie Brae, the Council will inform the public of any road closures required.”

Works approved for commencement include

  • inlay works at Tulloch Avenue / Kinnairdie Brae in Dingwall;
  • surface dressing works at the Heights of Docharty and Stoney Brae, Dingwall, and
  • surface dressing works at Windsor Place, Conon Bridge.

Should further funds become available, 7 additional surface dressing schemes have been approved for inclusion in the programme at Dingwall, Conon Bridge and Muir Of Ord with patching works also required in Dingwall.

Members approved the more cost-effective use of surface dressing compared to expensive overlay works which will enable the Council to treat significantly more of the roads network by surface dressing which helps seal roads and extends their operating lifespan

Councillors will be updated on the works programme at Ward Business Meetings and a progress report will be presented to the Committee at the end of the financial year.

The indicative programme is based on current engineering and safety priorities and may alter if significant events impact priorities and resources.
