Highland Council winter road condition report for Thursday 17 February 2022

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Thursday 17 February are as follows:

Badenoch and Strathspey: Posted at 07:45 - Wet roads at south end of the area with some slush on roads at the north end which are being treated as necessary.

Caithness: Posted at 07:54 - Mainly wet roads with some inland sections affected by wintry showers with surface water. No known issues overnight.

Inverness: Posted at 07:49 - Wet roads this morning with some sleet and snow on higher routes. Treating higher roads as required. Caution is advised for roads affected by surface water.

Lochaber: Posted at 07:20 - Positive road surface temperatures following heavy rain and high winds overnight. Treatment is taking place this morning on high routes due to the forecast of snow and ice. No overnight issues.

Nairn: Posted at 06:51 - Lower routes wet due to heavy rain and our higher routes have a covering of slush which is being treated as necessary.

Ross and Cromarty: Posted at 07:56 - Wet roads with standing water on the majority of routes with snow and slush on higher routes. All routes being checked and treated accordingly. No overnight issues.

Skye and Raasay: Posted at 08:15 - Positive road surface temperatures throughout area. No winter action required, and no issues reported overnight.

Sutherland: Posted at 08:19 - Wet roads on low ground with lots of surface water. On higher ground there are between 4- 6 inches of wet snow. All these routes are being bladed and treated as necessary.
