Easter Ross Area Committee members approve roads capital programme for 2022/23

Members of the Easter Ross Area Committee today (17 February 2022) approved the 2022/23 area roads capital programme.

The local allocations capital budget for 2022/23 remains to be established which will be calculated from the approved capital budget allocation being adjusted for any acceleration or slippage in the previous financial year for each area allocation, and also analysis of the road condition survey results.

Consequently the 2022/23 area capital roads programme is based on the previous year’s budget, which is unlikely to vary significantly from the established budget that will not be determined until early Summer.

The Ross & Cromarty budget has not been disaggregated to Easter Ross Area; Black Isle, Dingwall and Seaforth Area; and Wester Ross Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Area.

As the Easter Ross Area has a total of 23% of the road length in the former Ross and Cromarty area, this capital programme is based on 23% of the 2022/23 Ross and Cromarty Area Capital budget, which amounts to £270,000 and includes the Ward Allocation budget.

The priority routes approved by Members today include:

  • Inlay works on the B817 Dalmore Roundabout and Westford Roundabout
  • Overlay works on the C1012 Badachonacher Junction
  • Surface dressing on the U1441 Balnabruach Road
  • Patching on the U3970 entrance to Mayfield/Duthac Wynd
  • Inlay works on the U1468 School Road, Milton and the B9174 Stafford Street

Should extra funding be awarded there are a number of other roads in this year’s plan including:

  • The U4242 Saltburn Distributor Road
  • C1023 Dingwall – Evanton back road
  • U1457 Milton Village Loop
  • Members also agreed a recommendation to write to Highland Council Leader Cllr Margaret Davidson and Budget Leader, Cllr Alasdair Christie, to demand extra funding for roads in Easter Ross.
