Priorities for Inverness 2022/23 roads programme agreed
Inverness councillors have approved a roads maintenance programme for the city of Inverness and area for the coming financial year.
Provost and Leader of the City of Inverness Area Cllr Helen Carmichael said: “Members understand and recognise the importance that communities regard the condition of their local roads and have prioritised locations for repairs within the financial resources available.”
Among the prioritised locations approved for city resurfacing works are in:
- Ward 13 (Inverness West) the east end of Bruce Gardens;
- Ward 14 (Inverness Central) Wells Street, Margaret Street, and the south of Carsegate Road, and
- Ward 15 (Inverness Ness-side) part of Cauldeen Road, Drumfield Road; Torbreck Link to Dores Road and Holm Mills Road.
Also approved for resurfacing works in Ward 16 (Inverness Milburn) are Diriebught Road (from the school to Midmills Road), Seafield Road and Harbour Road at the approach to the Longman Road roundabout.
In Ward 17 (Culloden and Ardersier) priorities approved for resurfacing include: Ardersier - Cheese Pantry Junction; Croy Village - Croy towards New Tornagrain; and Old Tornagrain to Cantray.
In Ward 19 (Inverness South) members approved Tower Brae South, various location from Tomatin – Coignafearn; on the hill at Leys Castle; and road edge strengthening works at Tomfat Woods,
Ward 12 (Aird and Loch Ness) resurfacing works approved include locations at Kiltarlity and Fort Augustus, Englishton Muir, Beauly; sections of the Chapel Bridge - Foyers road; Boleskine - Foyers Hotel; and the crossroads at Teandalloch. Also included are major patching works between Daviot and Inverarnie; North of Balnafoich Crossroads; Tomich Village; Dog Falls in Glen Affric; and part of Aultvaich at Beauly.
Other required works identified at some 60 additional locations have been approved as reserve projects which will be undertaken subject to any final increase in capital budget allocation and underspend being carried forward.
