Tha an fhèis iomain Cupa Iomain na h-Òige, airson sgoilearan ann am Foghlam tron Ghàidhlig, a’ toirt cothromachd is cothroman cleachdaidh do dh’òigridh Ghàidhlig anns an raon spòrs.
Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh
Anns an dà fharpais a chaidh a chumail air a’ Ghàidhealtachd, bhuannaich Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh Cupa Bhòrd na Gàidhlig agus ’s e Sgoiltean a’ Chinn a Tuath (Sgoil Stafainn agus Bun-Sgoil Chille Mhoire) a thog Duais Ghàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd aig Pàirc nan Laoch, dachaigh Camanachd an Eilein, air Dimàirt 22 dhen Mhàrt.

Air Dihaoine 25 dhen Mhàrt ann aig Caisteal Leòid, pàirc Chabar Fèidh ann an Srath Pheofhair, ghlèidh Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis Cupa Iomain na h-Òige, agus airson a’ chiad fharpais riamh aca ràinig Bun-Sgoil Chnoc na Creige, Baile Dhubhthaich, a’ chuairt dheireannach agus choisinn iad Duais Ghàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd.
Thuirt Co-òrdanaiche Iomain Cholmcille, Eòghan Stiùbhart: “Tha sinn a’ cur luach mòr anns a’ chom-pàirteachas le Sgioba Gàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus tha sinn glè thoilichte a bhith ag obair le Comunn na Gàidhlig agus Comann na Camanachd airson cùisean a chur air dòigh cuideachd. Tha sinn airson an cothrom seo a ghabhail taing a thoirt do Bhòrd na Gàidhlig airson ar cuideachadh tro mhaoin Taic Freumhan Coimhearsnachd.”

Cupa Iomain na h-Òige Shinty festival
The Cupa Iomain na h-Òige Shinty festival for children attending Gaelic Medium Education provides Gaelic speaking youngsters’ equity and usage opportunities within the sporting environment.
(Purple) Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis
In the two events held in Highland, Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh lifted Cupa Bhòrd na Gàidhlig and the North End Schools (Sgoil Stafainn and Kilmuir Primary) earned the Highland Council Gaelic Prize at Skye Camanachd’s home park Pàirc nan Laoch on Tuesday 22nd March.
On Friday 25 March at Caberfeidh’s ground Castle Leod, Strathpeffer, it was Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis who won Cupa Iomain na h-Òige, and in their very first competition Craighill Primary, Tain, reached the final and also took home the Highland Council Gaelic Prize.
Eoghan Stewart, Co-ordinator for Iomain Cholmcille said, “We highly value the partnership with Highland Council Gaelic Team and we are very happy to work with Comunn na Gàidhlig and the Camanachd Association to organise the event. We wish to take this opportunity to thank Bòrd na Gàidhlig for their support through the Taic Freumhan Coimhearsnachd Fund.”
He continued, “It was a hugely successful week for the young people as part of World Gaelic Week and there will be another competition at Acharacle Primary for schools in Lochaber and Argyll on April 27th.”
