Campa Ball-coise Gàidhlig soirbheachail san Eilean Sgitheanach
O chionn ghoirid chuir Sgioba Gàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd, ann an com-pàirteachas le FC Sonas – seirbheis trèanaidh innleachdach airson ball-coise Gàidhlig – air dòigh Campa Ball-coise Gàidhlig trì-latha do sgoilearan FtG ann an sgìre an Eilein Sgitheanaich.
Bha mòran an làthair aig an tachartas shoirbheachail a chaidh a chumail aig Àrd-Sgoil Phort Rìgh agus ghabh 40 neach òg pàirt sna seiseanan trèanaidh ball-coise a bha air an stiùireadh le Calum MacFhearghais agus triùir iar-choidsichean. Bha na seiseanan air an roinn do dhà earrann a rèir aois: sgoilearan bun-sgoile Clas 1-3 agus sgoilearan bun-sgoile Clas 4-7.
Bhrosnaich FC Sonas na daoine òga gus a’ Ghàidhlig a bhruidhinn agus a bhith suimeil is còir ri chèile. Tron champa, chaidh innse gun deigheadh duais shònraichte a thoirt seachad air an latha mu dheireadh dhan neach a b’ fheàrr a rinn na rudan seo. Bhuannaich Innes MacNèill à Slèite an duais agus chaidh e dhachaigh le lèine air a shoidhnigeadh le Ryan Christie.
Thuirt Calum MacFhearghais, FC Sonas: “Bha sinn fìor thoilichte gum b’ urrainn dhuinn FC Sonas a thoirt dhan Eilean Sgitheanach le taic bho Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd. Às dèidh dà champa shaor-làithean shoirbheachail ann an Inbhir Nis, bha sinn a’ faireachdainn gun robh an t-àm air tighinn tadhal air coimhearsnachdan Gàidhlig eile air feadh na Gàidhealtachd. Bha iarrtas mòr ann airson àiteachan agus lìon sinn an 40 àite gu luath. Tha sinn air mòran fios air ais math fhaighinn agus tha sinn an dòchas tilleadh san àm ri teachd airson togail air an t-soirbheachas.”
Thuirt Nicky Ghrannd, Àrd-Oifigear Gnìomhach airson Foghlam agus Ionnsachadh: “’S e beachd-smuain sgoinneil a th’ ann ball-coise is spòrs a chleachdadh mar dhòigh gus daoine òga le Gàidhlig a chom-pàirteachadh, gu h-àraid ma tha cothrom ann na sgilean cànain aca a neartachadh a bharrachd air na sgilean trèanaidh ball-coise aca. Bu mhath leam taing a thoirt do Sgioba na Gàidhlig agus FC Sonas airson seo a chur air dòigh agus do na daoine òga againn agus High Life na Gàidhealtachd airson taic a chur ris an tachartas cuideachd.”
Gaelic Football Camp a success in Skye
The Highland Council Gaelic Team in partnership with FC Sonas, an innovative Gaelic Football training service, recently organised a three day Gaelic Football Camp for Gaelic medium pupils in the Skye area.
The successful event was well attended at Portree High School with 40 Gaelic speaking young people participating in the football coaching sessions, which were led by Calum Ferguson and three assistant coaches. The sessions were split into two age related categories; pupils in primaries 1-3 and pupils in primaries 4-7.
FC Sonas encouraged the young people at the three-day camp to speak Gaelic, to strive to be considered and kind to each other. During the camp there was an additional announcement; the individual who impressed the coaches with all these attributes would receive an extra special surprise on the last day of camp.
Innes MacNeil from Sleat was awarded the prize and went home with the Ryan Christie signed strip.
Calum Ferguson, FC Sonas said: “We were delighted to be able to take FC Sonas to the Isle of Skye thanks to the support of The Highland Council. After two previous successful Holiday camps in Inverness we felt the time was right to visit other Gaelic communities across the Highlands. The demand for places at the Easter Holiday camp was exceptional and we quickly reached our attendance capacity at 40 children. We have received plenty positive feedback and we hope to be able to return in the future to build on the success."
Nicky Grant, Executive Chief Officer for Education and Learning said: “It is a fantastic idea to use football and sport as a way to engage young people with Gaelic, especially as it provides an opportunity to enhance and strengthen the young people’s language skills as well as their football training abilities. Thank you to the Gaelic Team and FC Sonas for organising this fun experience for our young people and High Life Highland for supporting the event also.”
