Sgoilearan na Gàidhealtachd aig Seachdain Dhùn Èideann 2022
Chuir sgoilearan bho sgoiltean Foghlam tron Ghàidhlig (FtG) ann an sgìre Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd fàilte air a’ chothrom pàirt a ghabhail ann an Seachdain Dhùn Èideann, a chaidh a chur air dòigh le Comann nam Pàrant Nàiseanta.
Bha sgoilearan bho Bhun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis, Bun-Sgoil Ghlinn Urchadain, Bun-Sgoil Chnoc na Creige (Baile Dhubhthaich), Bun-Sgoil Shlèite, Bun-Sgoil a’ Phluic agus Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh am measg nan 19 sgoiltean bho air feadh Alba a ghabh pàirt ann an tachartas na bliadhna sa.
Chaidh sgoilearan gu bùithtean-obrach agus air cuairtean a bha uile air an cumail sa Ghàidhlig, aig Our Dynamic Earth, Caisteal Dhùn Èideann, Pàirc Thaigh an Ròid agus Taigh-tasgaidh Nàiseanta na h-Alba.

Thuirt Lena Walker, Manaidsear Leasachaidh na Gàidhlig aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd: “Chòrd an turas aca a Dhùn Èideann glan ri sgoilearan na Gàidhealtachd agus bha e sgoinneil gun robh luchd-iùil le Gàidhlig gan toirt mun cuairt. B’ e cothrom air leth a bha seo dhaibh an cuid Gàidhlig a chleachdadh, cha b’ ann a-mhàin taobh a-muigh a’ chlasa ach cuideachd ann an co-theacsa gu tur eadar-dhealaichte. Thug na cleasan cothrom dha na sgoilearan bho dhiofar sgoiltean FtG coinneachadh ri chèile agus, gu cudromach, bha cothrom aca an cuid Gàidhlig a chleachdadh ann an co-theacsa sòisealta.”
Thuirt Innes MacCuithein bho Chomann nam Pàrant: “Tha Seachdain Dhùn Èideann a’ toirt cothrom do sgoilearan ann am Foghlam tron Ghàidhlig tadhal air àiteachan inntinneach ann an Dùn Èideann ach leis gach turas air a stiùireadh le luchd-labhairt na Gàidhlig. ’S e turas foghlaim a tha seo, a tha a’ toirt foghlam sa Ghàidhlig a-mach à clas nan sgoilear fhèin agus a’ toirt cothrom dhaibh an cuid Gàidhlig a chleachdadh ann an grunn àrainneachdan eadar-dhealaichte. Bu mhath leam taing mhòr a thoirt do sgoiltean na Gàidhealtachd a shiubhail a Dhùn Èideann leis an òigridh.”

Lena Walker, Highland Council’s Gaelic Development Manager said: “Highland pupils thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the attractions in Edinburgh where their experience was received through Gaelic-speaking guides. This was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to use their Gaelic, not just outwith the classroom but also within a totally different context. The activities also created opportunities for pupils from different GME schools to meet and very importantly, provided them with opportunities to use their Gaelic within a social context.”
Innes MacQueen from Comann nam Pàrant added: “Seachdain Dhùn Èideann gives Gaelic Medium pupils the opportunity to visit popular attractions in Edinburgh but with all visits led by Gaelic speakers. This is an educational trip which takes education in Gaelic outwith the pupils’ own class and lets them use their Gaelic in a number of different environments. Many thanks to the Highland schools who travelled to Edinburgh with the youngsters.”
