Roadworks on A832 between Achnasheen and Gairloch at Slattadale
Roadworks on the A832 between Achnasheen and Gairloch at Slattadale began in late February 2022.
The plan below shows the location, five miles south of Gairloch, Wester Ross. The scheme, funded from The Highland Council Capital Works Programme, is designed and supervised by Highland Council and being carried out by Wills Bros.
The works require the breaking out and removal of a rock face to widen the existing single track road to provide a new two lane road.
To date the works have been carried out adjacent to the existing road using traffic signals to manage the traffic. The works are progressing within the agreed timescales with 75% of the rock removal now completed but to remove the remaining section blasting of the rock face will be required.
To complete this safely the road will be closed to traffic for approximately 30 minutes towards the end of May. Emergency services have been notified.
A further communication will be issued once the actual day/time is known. It is anticipated that the new road will be complete towards the end of August 2022.
We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding.
