’S iad Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh a thog tiotal Cuach na Cloinne 2022, a’ toirt a’ chupa dhan Eilean Sgitheanach. Às dèidh 6 farpaisean roinneil air feadh Alba, thairis A’ Ghiblein ’s a’ Chèitean, rinn Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh a’ gnothach air Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu sa chuairt-deireannach ann an Inbhir Nis air Diciadain 1 den t-Ògmhios.
’S e co-fharpais ball-coise nàiseanta, 5 air gach taobh, a th’ ann an Cuach na Cloinne. Ghabh òigridh bho air feadh na dùthcha ann an C4-7 aig a’ bheil Gàidhlig pàirt ann. Chaidh farpaisean roinneil a chumail ann am Port Rìgh, Lionacleit, Steòrnabhagh, Inbhir Nis, Glaschu, agus an t-Òban, le na 6 sgiobaidhean soirbheachail sna farpaisean roinneil a’ gabhail àite sa chuairt-deireannach.

Chaidh Cupa Cuach na Cloinne a thoirt do Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh le Marina Mhoireach, Stiùiriche Leasachaidh Chomunn na Gàidhlig (CnaG).
Chaidh duais Sàr Neach Cleachdaidh na Gàidhlig gu Ryan Dòmhnallach bho Bun-sgoil nan Loch. ’S ann airson an neach, ann am beachd na rèitirean, aig a tha cleachdadh na Gàidhlig as fheàrr tron fharpais a tha an duais seo.
Thuirt Marina Mhoireach, Stiùiriche Leasachaidh ChnaG, a tha a’ ruith a’ cho-fharpais:
“Tha e air leth mhisneachail a bhith a’ faicinn uimhir de dhaoine òga bho air feadh Alba a’ gabhail pàirt san fharpais. Thairis air na cuairtean roinneil agus an cuairt-deireannach, chunnaic sinn comas air leth aig an òigridh, an dà chuid le sgilean ball-coise agus leis a’ Ghàidhlig. Tha Cuach na Cloinne gu tur mu dheidhinn òigridh a bhith a’ faighinn tòrr spòrs, a’ faighinn cothrom coinneachadh le daoine òga eile bho air feadh Alba, agus an cuid Ghàidhlig a chleachdadh taobh a-muigh na sgoile. Tha sinne aig CnaG air leth taingeil do Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar agus Bòrd na Gàidhlig airson an taic leantainneach do Chuach na Cloinne.”
Thuirt Shona NicIllinnein, Ceannard Bòrd na Gàidhlig:
“Mealaibh ur naidheachd gu sgoilearan Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh agus don a h-uile sgoilear a ghabh pàirt sa cho-fharpais! Tha e na thoileachas mhòr dhuinn a bhith an sàs ann am pròiseact cho cudromach do dh’òigridh gus cothroman a thabhainn dhaibh an cuid Gàidhlig a chleachdadh taobh a-muigh na sgoile. Chan e sin a-mhàin ach gu bheil e cuideachd a togail air sunnd agus amasan a’ Phlana Nàiseanta gus Gàidhlig àbhaisteachadh. Cumaidh oirbh!”
Thuirt Dòmhnall Weir, Oifigear Taic Gàidhlig do Chomhairle nan Eilean Siar:
“Mealaibh uile ur naidheachd airson farpais shoirbheachail eile am bliadhna-sa! Agus mealaibh ur naidheachd gu sònraichte gu gach sgoilear a ghabh pàirt san fharpais! Tha an fharpais seo air a bhith cho cudromach thairis air na bliadhnaichean gus cothroman a thoirt dhan òigridh againn Gàidhlig a chleachdadh ann an suidheachaidhean nàdarra, spòrsail, taobh a-muigh na sgoile.”
Thuirt Comhairliche Raymond Bremner, Ceannard aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd:
“Tha spòrs na fior dheagh chur-seachad gus Gàidhlig an òigridh a leasachadh. Tha Cuach na Cloinne na fior dheagh thachartas spòrs leis gun urrainn an òigridh sealltainn dè cho math ’s a tha na sgilean ball-coise aca, agus ’s urrainn dhaibh a’ Ghàidhlig aca a chleachdadh. Thathar airson taing a thoirt do Chomunn na Gàidhlig airson an tachartas seo a-ruith, le taic bho Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd. Mealaibh ur naidheachd do buanaichean Cuach na Cloinne Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh, agus tha mi an dòchas gum bi an tachartas seo a toirt air an òigridh a’ Ghàidhlig a chleachdadh nam beathannan làitheil.”
Tha Comunn na Gàidhlig a-nis ag obair air a’ chiad Cuach na Cloinne nan Àrd-sgoiltean a bhios a’ tachairt aig deireadh a’ mhìos.
Tha Cuach na Cloinne 2022 air a mhaoineachadh le Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, agus Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd, agus air a chur air dòigh le Comunn na Gàidhlig.

Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh win Cuach na Cloinne 2022!
Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh are the winners of Cuach na Cloinne 2022, taking the trophy home to the Isle of Skye. After 6 regional competitions held across Scotland during April and May, Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh beat Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu in the National Final in Inverness on Wednesday 1 June.
Cuach na Cloinne is a national 5-a-side football competition aimed at young people all over the country with Gaelic in P4-7. The regional competitions were held in Portree, Lionacleit, Stornoway, Inverness, Glasgow, and Oban, with the successful team from each competition earning their place in the final.
The 6 teams that participated in the final are:
- Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh
- Sgoil Uibhist a Tuath
- Lochs Primary School
- Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis
- Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu
- Acharacle Primary School
The Cuach na Cloinne trophy was awarded by Marina Murray, Development Director at Comunn na Gàidhlig (CnaG).
The Sàr Neach Cleachdaidh na Gàidhlig award went to Ryan MacDonald from Lochs Primary School. This award is given to the player that had the best use of Gaelic during the competition chosen by the referees.
Marina Murray, Development Director at CnaG, who run the competition, said:
“It’s been excellent to have seen so many young people from all over Scotland taking part in the competition. Across the six regional competitions and the final, we saw incredible ability and skill both with Gaelic and with football. Cuach na Cloinne is about providing young people from all over the country with an opportunity to meet each other and have fun while playing football and developing their Gaelic ability and usage outwith the school environment. CnaG are very thankful to The Highland Council, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Bòrd na Gàidhlig for their continued support with Cuach na Cloinne.”
Shona MacLennan, CEO of Bòrd na Gàidhlig, said:
“Congratulations to the pupils of Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh and indeed to each and every pupil who took part in the competition! It gives us great joy to be involved in such an important project for youth in offering them opportunities to use their Gaelic outwith the classroom. Not only that but it adds to the wellbeing and the aims of the National Plan to normalise Gaelic. Keep it up!”
Donald Weir, Gaelic Officer for Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said:
“Congratulations to everyone for another successful tournament! And congratulations in particular to every pupil who took part in the competition! This competition has been very important over the years in providing opportunities for young people to use their Gaelic in a natural and fun environment outside of the school.”
Cllr Raymond Bremner, Leader of The Highland Council said:
“Sport is a very positive activity through which to enhance young people’s Gaelic usage. Cuach na Cloinne, is an excellent Gaelic Medium sporting event as it offers a fantastic opportunity for pupils to display their footballing talents along with their linguistic skills. I would like to take this opportunity thank Comunn na Gàidhlig for organising the event with support from The Highland Council’s Gaelic Team. Congratulations to the Cuach na Cloinne Trophy winners Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh and I hope that the experience of the tournament helps to boosts our young peoples’ confidence in using their Gaelic in their everyday lives.”
Comunn na Gàidhlig are now preparing for the very first Cuach na Cloinne for High Schools, which is set to take place at the end of the month.
Cuach na Cloinne 2022 is funded by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, and The Highland Council, and organized by Comunn na Gàidhlig.
