Highland Council can confirm it has had to close the U2117 Duchaly road at Glen Cassley following a significant landslip on Sunday evening (14 August 2022).

The single track road in Sutherland serves Duchally Lodge and one other property and Highland Council officers are attempting to make contact with local contacts to confirm no one is on the other side of the landslip. However, no calls for assistance have been received so far.

Local roads teams have visited and assessed the scene and are preparing plant machinery in preparation for the clear-up and remedial works.

It is estimated that approximately 200-300 tonnes of material will need to be removed and the work could take a number of days to complete.

The landslip happened around five miles into the Glen.
