Bridge inspections will cause temporary road closures
The Highland Council is advising motorists that 4 bridge inspections will result in temporary road closures which will be necessary to allow for safe inspection of the bridges in the north area.
The affected roads and bridges being inspected are the:
- B9176 Struie Road from 09:00 to 11:00 on 14 September 2022.
- C1045 Shore Road, Lybster from 14:00 to 16:00 hours on 14 September 2022.
- C1113 Trantlemore - Strath Halladale - Upper Bighouse Road from 10:00 to 13:00 hours on 15 September 2022.
- A838 Dionard Bridge, Durness from 15:00 to 17:00 on 15 September 2022.
The B9176 Struie Road, will be closed from its junction with A836 Dornoch Bridge – Bonar Bridge Road to its junction with U1878 Edderton – Mudh-A-Blair Road from 09:00 to 11:00 on 14 September 2022. An alternative route will be available via the A836 Dornoch Bridge – Bonar Bridge Road and U1878 Edderton – Mudh-A-Blair Road.

The C1045 Shore Road, Lybster will be closed from its junction with C1045 Main Street to its termination, a distance of around 880 metres from 14:00 to 16:00 hours on 14 September 2022. No alternative route is available.

The C1113 Trantlemore - Strath Halladale - Upper Bighouse Road, closed from its northernmost junction with the A897 Helmsdale - Melvich Road to where it splits, a distance of around 285 metres from 10:00 to 13:00 hours on 15 September 2022. To avoid the road closure an alternative route will be available via the A897 Helmsdale - Melvich Road and a section of the C1113 Trantlemore - Strath Halladale - Upper Bighouse Road.

The A838 Dionard Bridge, Durness will be closed from 15:00 to 17:00 on 15 September 2022. No alternative route is provided.

The closures apply to all vehicles except vehicles employed to carry out the bridge inspections and their associated traffic management. Emergency vehicles are exempt.
