Lochaber Area Committee chair and vice chair appointed
Councillor Kate Willis, who represents Ward 21, has been appointed as Chair of the Lochaber Area Committee which met for the first time today (Tuesday, 30 August 2022).
After taking the Chair, Cllr Kate Willis thanked fellow Members for their support and then called for nominations to the role of Vice-Chair. Cllr John Grafton, who represents Ward 11 will act as the Vice Chair of the Lochaber Area Committee.
Speaking after the committee, the new Chair, Cllr Kate Willis said: “I am delighted to be appointed as Chair of Lochaber Area Committee and would like to thank my Ward 11 and 21 colleagues for their support. I look forward to chairing the Area Committee and helping to serve the people of Lochaber.
“We are focussed on working together and continuing to build on the good work of previous Councillors. We will work with our local communities to ensure that the voice of Lochaber is represented on Highland Council matters.”
Cllr Kate Willis added: “There are many challenges ahead and we will do all that we can to build a fair, sustainable future that will benefit everyone and help the communities and environment of Lochaber thrive and prosper.”
Lochaber Area Committee is a seven member ward (Ward 21 and 11). The Committee members are Councillors Kate Willis (Chair), Sarah Fanet, Angus MacDonald, Thomas MacLennan, John Grafton (Vice Chair), Andrew Baldrey and Liz Saggers.
