HERO Scheme helps Inverness business support new recruit
The Highland Council’s HERO employability scheme is helping to support new recruit Codie Cargill of Inverness based Pure Lubrication, as she undertakes a modern apprenticeship in Business and Administration.
Speaking about her new role which she began in May this year, Codie said: “The HERO scheme has helped me with funding support which has enabled me to start my apprenticeship in Business and Administration. As Pure Lubrication is a small company, without the HERO scheme I may not be where I am today. It allows me to continue to learn and develop, and gain a qualification, it also helps Pure Lubrication with their own business development. In my role I am gaining a lot of useful knowledge and skills that I will be able to transfer into other areas of business and I really appreciate the support of the team along the way.”
Simon Campbell, Managing Director of Pure Lubrication said: “The Highland Employment Recruitment Offer (HERO) is a fantastic initiative that has given Pure Lubrication the opportunity to create a new role to support the growth and development of our business. It has also given us the chance to recruit, train and develop a new team member and give them a chance of a career with a young and exciting business, training and developing them to become a valuable member of the team with a secure job and a bright future. The funding we received through HERO enabled us to bring Codie on board which from day one has been a great experience for both Codie and the Pure team.”
“Growing a business doesn’t come without challenges and for a young business like ours, HERO really has been our hero in supporting our strategy of investing in people. It has been a win win situation as Pure are seeing the benefits of the investment with continued growth whilst Codie’s knowledge, confidence and business experience develops day by day. We are absolutely delighted with the support HERO has given us and would highly recommend the scheme to any eligible businesses out there.”
HERO is funded by The Highland Council and the Scottish Government under the No One Left Behind and Young Person's Guarantee Funding Streams. It helps people of all work ages and with the greatest barriers to employment secure and stay in jobs.
Chair of The Highland Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Cllr Ken Gowans said: “I’m delighted that Codie is thriving in her new role and wish her and all the other young people who are getting new work opportunities under the HERO scheme the very best. The skills and qualifications they are gaining are directly benefiting the businesses they are working for. It’s a win-win situation so I encourage more Highland businesses to come forward so they too can benefit from the HERO support that is available.”
