Cuairt Leugh is Seinn le Linda sa Ghàidhealtachd
Leugh is Seinn le Linda
Tha Sgioba Gàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd, ann an com-pàirteachas le Comhairle nan Leabhraichean, fìor thoilichte gun robh cothrom aca Linda NicLeòid a thoirt gu sgoiltean is coimhearsnachdan na Gàidhealtachd.
Tha Leugh is Seinn le Linda, le sgeulachdan is òrain Ghàidhlig do chloinn òga, air crìoch a chur air cuairt sa Ghàidhealtachd. Tha Linda NicLeòid air a bhith cho fada tuath ri Bun-Sgoil Mount Pleasant ann an Inbhir Theòrsa agus cho fada an iar ri Bun-Sgoil Àth Tharracail ann an Àird nam Murchan. Chuir i crìoch air a turas le bhith a’ tadhal air Ionad Tràth-Ionnsachaidh an Eilein Sgitheanaich agus air cròileagain ionadail.
Tha Linda, a bhuineas do dh’Uibhist a Tuath, na seinneadair Gàidhlig ainmeil agus na preasantair aithnichte air grunn phrògraman telebhisein.
Bha a’ chuairt a’ tadhal air ionadan Thràth-bhliadhnaichean Gàidhlig air feadh na Gàidhealtachd agus a’ gabhail a-steach seiseanan coimhearsnachd ann an tallachan baile airson cothrom spòrsail a thoirt do phàrantan is pàistean tighinn còmhla.
Bhathar an dùil a’ chuairt a dhèanamh ann an 2020 ach b’ fheudar a cur dheth ri linn a’ ghlasaidh. Mar sin, bha Sgioba Gàidhlig na Comhairle air leth toilichte Leugh is Seinn le Linda a thoirt chun na Gàidhealtachd am-bliadhna.
Thuirt Cathraiche Comataidh Gàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd, an Comhairliche Calum Rothach: “Tha a bhith a’ brosnachadh gaol air òrain is sgeulachdan bho aois òg fìor chudromach a thaobh ionnsachadh is leasachadh chloinne. Bha seiseanan Linda spòrsail do chloinn ach bha iad cuideachd a’ togail sgilean sòisealta na cloinne agus a’ cur taic ri bhith a’ leasachadh an cuid Gàidhlig.”
Thuirt Alison Lang, Stiùiriche Chomhairle nan Leabhraichean: “Tha seiseanan leughaidh is seinn Linda NicLeòid air a bhith nam pàirt soirbheachail de phrògram foghlaim is for-ruigheachd Chomhairle nan Leabhraichean, a’ cuideachadh gus gaol air leughadh a bhrosnachadh am measg chloinn òga, am pàrantan is an tidsearan.
“Bha e sgoinneil a bhith a’ dol air chuairt a-rithist, a’ toirt cothrom do sgoilearan ro-sgoile is bun-sgoile air feadh na Gàidhealtachd coinneachadh ri Linda aghaidh ri aghaidh agus tlachd fhaighinn às na leabhraichean Gàidhlig as ùire.”
Leugh Is Seinn le Linda Highland Tour
Highland Council Gaelic team in partnership with the Gaelic Books Council are delighted to have brought Linda Macleod to Highland schools and communities.
Leugh is Seinn le Linda, stories and Gaelic songs for young children has finished touring the Highland area. Linda MacLeod has been as far north as Mount Pleasant Primary in Thurso and to the west in Acharacle Primary, Ardnamurchan and completed the tour by visiting Skye Gaelic Early Learning Centre and local Croileagan groups.
Linda, originally from North Uist, is a well-known Gaelic singer as well as a popular TV presenter of various programmes.
This latest tour of Gaelic Early Years provision across Highland included community sessions in local village halls for parents and toddlers to come along and join in the fun.
The tour was originally planned to take place in 2020 but was one of the events which had to be postponed due to lock-down, so the Council’s Gaelic Team was therefore delighted to be able to bring Leugh is Seinn le Linda to Highland this year.
Chair of Highland Council’s Gaelic Committee Cllr Calum Munro said: “Instilling a love of song, and stories from an early age, is very important to the learning and development of our young people. Linda’s sessions principally for children were fun but also helped to build their social skills and support their Gaelic language development.”
Alison Lang, Director of the Gaelic Books Council said: “Linda MacLeod’s ever-popular reading and singing sessions have been such a successful part of the Gaelic Books Council’s education and outreach programme, helping to foster a love of reading among young children and their parents and teachers.
“It was wonderful to be able to go on tour once again, allowing pre-school and primary school pupils throughout the Highland Council area to meet Linda face to face and to enjoy the latest Gaelic books.”
